One Day Workshop on The Importance of Online Databases and e-resources in Legal Research

A training workshop  was conducted by the School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University) NCR, Delhi on 07th August 2019. The prime objective of the workshop was to introduce the spectrum of online legal information available for Legal Researchers. It also attempted to acquaint the students and faculty with the features of specific databases. Mr Devesh Bisht from SCC (North) started the session with a brief talk on the requirement of online databases. He deliberated on the near impossibility of mapping the ever-increasing domain of cases, without the online access. He delved on the difficulties of manual library search by law practitioners. Mr Mohit detailed about the search scope of SCC and the techniques of relevant data retrieval. The detailed coverage on Court cases and easy search options in SCC was appreciated by students in general.

 
 

Mr Satyendra, from Manuptara emphasized on the comprehensiveness of the database that provides judgments across all subjects of law of the Supreme Court ,all Indian High Courts, Orders of the Tribunals, Bills, central and state Acts, along with the notification and circulars, ordinances, committee reports and more.  Students and faculty especially appreciated the combination of case law with commentaries and discussion in Manupatra.

 
 

Lexis Nexis presentation focused on the uniqueness of their database that covers full text judgements and Acts of Supreme Court of India, All High Courts, All Tribunals and Central Acts and commentaries in corporate, commercial, banking and finance, intellectual property, ADR, civil and criminal law.

The workshop was attended by first semester students of BA LLB and BBA LLB along with faculty of Law. It was coordinated by Dr Ramesh Kumar, HoD School of Law and Dr. Shilp Shikha Singh, faculty School Of Law, Christ (NCR).
