One of the core values at CHRIST University, 'Pursuit of Excellence', finds its expression in the student body of the Student Welfare Office. A forum for inquisitive minds to explore and exhibit their talents, as well as exchange ideas and contribute to a holistic growth, the SWO plays a significant role in shaping the campus culture of the university. The SWO conducts the programs organized by the university like DARPAN, BLOSSOMS and SUNERGOS, which are some of the key events that bring to spotlight the various facets of the students.
This space is a hub of opportunities ensuring creative growth for all students, being open for them to choose the wing they wish to partake freely. They receive training in diverse disciplines that aids active and effective functioning by coherent planning and accomplishment of events.

INAUGURATION OF DARPAN AND PEDAGOGY LEAGUE 2019-2020
Darpan is a talent hunt fest which seeks out talents across the campus and is held every year. Darpan sets the stage for young talents. The winners of Darpan forms the cultural team of the college. The inauguration of Darpan was held on 8th of August. The event started by seeking the blessings of the Almighty through cutting of the ribbon, all the SWO Cultural teams started off with their activities officially by showcasing their respective talents namely Choir, Instrumental team and Natyarpana (Dance)
A flash mob dance was performed by 90-100 students from different departments. Fr. Viju, Fr. Sunny and Fr. Thomas inaugurated the SIX wings of STUDENT WELFARE OFFICE by publishing the venue schedule. The students brought exuberance in the event through their performances in dance and music.
DARPAN- THE INTRA-UNIVERSITY FEST
Darpan is a talent hunt fest which seeks out talents across the campus and is held every year. Darpan sets the stage for young talents. Darpan was held on August 20 to August 30, 2019 The nascent steps of Darpan began with the creative writing competition, which included slots for writing poetry and short stories. On the other side of the vivacious Christ World, students blended powder colours into beautiful rangolis. The Debate and Extempore Competition followed with sensitive and thought provoking topics The next event, Proscenium showcased the acting talent of our students. Junk Art, and cartooning events engaged with the various pressing issues that our world is facing. The students were judged by the Management & English Language faculty of Christ NCR. The Main proceedings of the stage included classical and western dance competitions and singing events that brought a week long energy and zest to an overflowing tornado of emotions.
DARPAN is conducted at the beginning of the academic year, which is a platform where the best of the best are chosen (Cultural Team) to represent CHRIST (Deemed To Be University) in stage, theatre, literary and art events at State, National and International competitions. We have 87 students in the Cultural team who have participated in inter-university competitions namely:

PLASTIC CLEANUP CAMPAIGN – SWATCH BHARAT
On 25 Sept 2019 there was an attempt to sensitize the student community on this issue through a small campaign in the campus.
This campaign was in collaboration with SWO and CSA.
Objectives of the campaign were as follows:
1. To spread awareness about the hazards of plastic.
2. To impart knowledge about the reduction and re-use of plastic.
3. To contribute towards preserving the environment and reduction of plastic pollution.
Students were educated on the importance of recycling of plastic and introduced about Biodegradable plastic, which is a new form of reusing plastic. The dignitaries of the program were Mr. Dinesh Chandra Singh the IAS, city commissioner , Mr. Sudhir Sharma- Zonal officer and Father Sunny Joseph-Administrative officer.
Mr. Dinesh Chandra motivated the students to be happy and fit by giving healthy food tips and performing Yoga “ Sirsasana ". He advised the student to use cloth and steel instead of plastic. He told the students to avoid fast food in order to be healthy and fit. Saplings were planted in the Anand Training Centre. This was a small effort taken by the Students of the university to spread awareness in view of conserving the planet for our future generations and try to cut down the use of plastic.

On 5th October 2019, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) celebrated Bhasha Utsav which was organized by the Department of Languages in collaboration with SWO. Bhasha Utsav also known as Ethnic Day is a festival celebrates diverse cultures and ethnicities. The college premises were decorated with flowers and rangolis.
The program began with a procession accompanied by a dance performance by the support staff. The drum beatings by our director Father Dr. Viju PD and Dr. Merlyn Sharma, Coordinator and the Head of the Department of languages marked the beginning. Many folk performances showcasing the cultural diversity of India were performed by Christies starting from Tiruvathira, Garba, Lavni and Bhangra. Dhol and Chenda performances by the professionals stole the show. Prizes were also given to the male and female faculties for the best ethnic wear and also to the best performances.
The program ended with a battle between Dhol and Chenda Melam followed by DJ Rajan Sir from Bangalore Campus. Students were dressed in their ethnic dresses and added colour and splendor to this festival.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS
The maiden edition of Christ University Model United Nations, organized and hosted by the SWO and students of Christ (Deemed To Be) University, Delhi NCR, Organized on 16 and 17 December 2019, the conference upheld simulations of three dynamic committees where enthusiastic delegates conduct debate over unaddressed crises with passion and power. Further, the International Press captured glimpses of the committee’s proceedings in their pictures and written compositions that were compiled as MINDS IN MOTION, the official newsletter of the conference.
The proficient Executive Board members of CU-MUN 19 then made the delegates realize their fullest potential to reach the best of their caliber which made this experience a fruitful one for every participant. They explained in detail the Rules of Procedures, the nuances of effective public speaking and the true purpose of this intellectual activity.
On the second day the best delegates from all the committees were awarded on the basis of their performance. A token of Gratitude was presented to the board of executives who headed the committees and were the reason for the smooth functioning of MUN. All in all the event was as grand and glorious as it could be setting a high benchmark for the many editions to come.
Magnificat is a festival of music that is conducted and hosted by the Christ University Choir. Magnificat as a Christmas choral event enhances the beauty of this fairy tale like set up. Magnificat 2019, the very first Annual Christmas celebration took place on 18 December 2019 with great pomp and show. The theme of this year’s celebration was ‘A Song of Hope’, which intended to spread the positive message of having faith and hope through the melodious tunes of various choirs. All the ACC members and student volunteers decorated the whole campus with lights and various depictions of the birth of Jesus Christ and Christmas. Magnificat was structured in a Competition format which attracted various schools and churches across Delhi and Delhi -NCR region, among which fifteen participated.
Each choir along with the choir conductor was felicitated at the end of their performance. In this competition, the choir of St. Stephens Marthoma Church was declared the winner. The runners up prize was bagged by St. Mary’s Convent School, the first consolation prize by St. Joseph’s Academy, Ghaziabad and the second consolation by Assissi Convent School, Noida.
The Christ Choir presented their thanks giving to the crowd with an amazing performance which truly depicted the theme ‘A Song of Hope’. This performance was followed by the prize distribution, where the prize winners were felicitated. The end of this musical journey also witnessed a Dance Drama presented by the students of CHRIST (Deemed to be university), Delhi - NCR, depicting the story of The Grinch. This definitely enriched the experiences of the gathering. Finally the backstory of this journey of a whole month of preparations was presented by the IT team and this marked the end of this grand Christmas celebration.
This year, we were graced by the presence of Fifteen other choirs across the city and participate in the celebration in harmony, all of which were presented with a token of appreciation at the end of their performance.
ALUMNI MEET 2020
To cherish the memories made in CHRIST (Deemed to be University), we at Delhi NCR campus held our first Annual Alumni Meet on 26th January 2020. This Sunday also marked Republic Day having a double rainbow to celebrate. All the alumni present that day witnessed a show put up by the Student Council and SWO. The day was special for all the members as the alumni members were able to relive their college days and the students and faculty had the opportunity to show them the new campus and introduce themselves to the already beaming Christite Spirit. The Alumni Association was also inaugurated by Dr. Vinnarassi B. All the office bearers of the association were appointed and had a fruitful discussion on the functioning of the association. 64 Alumni gathered on this day.

Blossoms is hosted by Christ University where every student gets an opportunity to co-ordinate, co-operate and participate in various events. A 45-day long journey filled with creativity at Christ (Deemed to be University) Delhi NCR had its grand finale on 28 February, 2020. All the students of the university were divided into 3 clusters: Lavender, Lupine, and Orchid, according to their departments. The whole event took place at two levels, Intra-cluster and Inter-cluster. Blossoms is to ensure all students participate in at least two events enabling the overall development of a student and practices the Vision of Christ - Excellence and service, 'Excellence is not only confined in class room but outside too, Service starts from the very home enabling them to serve each other and work towards growth’.
Blossoms were divided into 5 categories namely: Art, Literature, Dance, Music and Theatre. Inter- Cluster Blossoms were followed by Dance Extravaganza and Theme Portrayal. All the students were involved in a healthy competition which helped them in channelizing their talents in the best way possible. As the students juggled between various events and studies, the event also enhanced their time and task management skills. After all the hard work and struggle, the spirit of being a true Christite fully blossomed in all of our hearts!

The very first fest of Christ (Deemed To Be University) Delhi- NCR Campus. Sunergos is a Greek word meaning Work Together. . A dynamic fest organized by the cumulative efforts of all the SIX departments and SWO. Sunergos 2020 was the first inter-college fest organized by Christ (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR on 29 February '20. This was a fest which blossomed the essence of fervor and euphoria in the campus, Sunergos was the platform which facilitated the University to host several esteemed colleges, that enthralled the audience through their scintillating performances. Sunergos has the culturals named as OMADA meaning Cluster, Categories into 3 Parts namely Street Theater, Dance-Ada and Music-Ada. Sunergos observed a great number of participation for all the three categories which was serendipitous. Universities such as Delhi University, IP University, Amity University and a few independent colleges competed in the fest.
This was the first fest of Christ (Deemed to be University) Delhi-NCR Campus, which managed to gather the audience and participation from over twenty or more colleges for the three different events. It really was a great start which provides enthusiasm for more such successful events in the future.
The Student Welfare office is divided into six wings only to make it a united and
powerfully synchronized body, namely:
1. University Volunteer Body
University VOLUNTEER BODY are the people, for the people. They are considered the backbone of the university, for they work with other folks to help people. This wing consists of leaders who not just assist but organize and ensure a team where the individuals only make up the whole.
The Volunteer team consists of 60 students from various departments within the university. They help organize and coordinate various University events such as cultural fests, seminars, conferences etc. They are also trained in various aspects that pertain to leadership, problem solving, time management and team building.
· Registrations will take place for a duration of 3 days.
· Students will be oriented about the committee and select a committee of their preference.
· There is a specified limit to the number of volunteers who can register for each committee.
· Registrations will take place on first come, first serve basis.
· Students who have registered will go through a Group Discussion round and Personal interview.
· Criteria can be previous experience in managing and organizing events, interest in arts and sports.
· An SWO Training and Leadership Programme is conducted, for which the volunteers who attend the programme are selected by the heads and approved by the coordinator.
-Committee heads hold separate meetings, where they brief their members about the responsibilities, dress code and rules.

ART & LIT COMMITTEE
Volunteers of Art Committee organizes Art events like Painting, Sketching, Cartooning etc. (Registration, Coding, Venue, Materials like Pots, Papers and Judges Files etc.) (Offstage committee) and Volunteers of Lit Committee will organize Literary Events like Quiz, Debate, Dumb Charades etc. (Registration, Slots, Venue, Judges Files etc.)
Hospitality – Volunteers of Hospitality help in taking care of the Judges/Guests, Outstation Participants, First Aid, and Volunteers Refreshments etc.
Audi Management – Volunteers of this committee maintain the discipline in the Auditorium, Seating Arrangements in the Auditorium/Event Place and help other committees in organizing events.
Creative Team – Volunteers of this team are very artistic and creative to decorate and make events colorful with lot of props, decorations, handmade posters etc.
Stage - Volunteers of Stage committee will organize Stage events like Dance, Music, Theatre (Backstage, Registration, Slot Picking, and Judges Files)
MC/Emcee committee – Auditions will be held for MC committee by the senior MCs and coordinators and selected candidates will be part of this committee and they help the University to host all the events.
Media Committee- Volunteers part of this committee take care of Photography and Videography, Designing Posters, Brochures, Publicity, Reception Desk for every event.
Record Committee– Volunteers part of this committee take care of record keeping, Report Writing, Attendance of the Volunteers for every event.
2. University Cultural Team
The University cultural team can be termed as the face of the university who represent the University across the nation in various cultural fests in the field of Art, Lit. Stage and Theatre events. "The differences strengthened" is a phrase that embeds the premise of the University CULTURAL TEAM. This initiative is an enabler of initiatives where students can colour the programs with life and talent, by their artistic abilities in myriad activities ranging from sketching expressions to writing proses.
· Winners of Darpan will be selected to get into the University Cultural team. The present cultural team has 87 members
3. University Choir
The Choir performs at every University event and their own annual events, Magnificat and Sound Curry with different lingual and religious backgrounds with music as common ground.
Choir performs for every major events, Darpan, Blossoms and Sunergos, Sports days, Chrispo, Grand Christmas show etc., in the Campus and few cultural performances. The choir has presently 35 students from across the programmes.

4. University Instrumental Music team
University Instrumental Music team are mere examples of the opportunity for students to showcase their power rhythm synchronized with no spasm of fear but smiles on stage with the University CHOIR.

5. University Dance Team-Natyaarpana
University Dance Team is a wing that is open for artists and talents to discover and be a part of the varied dance forms, be it the classical or modern. “NRITTA” is a mega event celebrated every year where Natyarpana showcases its passionate and enthusiastic dancers along with diverse dance forms which make it a most awaited event on campus.
· Dance teams of Christ University Cultural team will automatically be part of Natyaarpana.
· Natyaarpana performs Inaugural dance for every major events, Darpan, Blossoms and Sunergos, Sports days, Chrispo, Grand Christmas show etc, in campus and few cultural performances.

6. University Quiz Association (CUQA)
Christ University QUIZ ASSOCIATION is the space for the fact-driven, curious and explorative minds interested in quizzing for national and international competitions.

The various wings work together to organize these activities to hone the pre-existing talents while finding the new ones. After all, they shade the campus with accolades and laurels by their active participation in numerous fests and become the face of the university at a multitude of activities.
A flicker of enthusiasm at the start and the satisfying smiles with successful completion of tasks and a reel of meaningful memories follow the members, alongside their artistic growth.Each student who are actively involved in the team will be evaluated and awarded a Performance Certificate at the end of each academic year.
A sense of responsibility in the student community of Christ (Deemed to be University) towards self and the society
DARPAN, which is usually hosted at the beginning of the academic year, helps identify fresh talent on campus, who form the CHRIST NCR Cultural Team, through which they go on to represent the university in various State, National and International events.
BLOSSOMS is the inter-department or inter- cluster cultural fest of the university that is usually conducted in the even semester. An event that promotes the involvement and participation of all the students across the different departments, the fest is a recognition of the extracurricular potential of the students.SUNERGOS is the national level inter-university cultural fest, that transcends state and regional borders to host active participation from higher education institutes spread across the various states in north India. The mega-fest consists of the six departments of the university conducting their various fests to bring together an amalgamation of expertise in knowledge and extracurricular across various disciplines.
