The Department of Economics offers BSc (Economics/Honours/Honours with Research) and has started incorporating the multidisciplinary spirit of the new NEP 2020. The programme has been designed to provide front-line expertise in mainstream Economics with a minor in Statistics. It aims to develop analytical, creative, and critical thinking skills for effective problem-solving and decision-making.
The programme is structured to produce graduates who are trained in applying economic knowledge to real-life economic and analytical problems. It equips students with the skills and professional insight required to become key contributors to the economy, irrespective of their future career paths.
Multidisciplinary in nature, the programme integrates diverse fields such as Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, and Model Building. It also provides hands-on training in software applications such as SPSS, STATA, and R, thereby enhancing students’ competencies. Components such as internships, case studies, seminars, and research projects further strengthen students’ understanding of the practical applications of the programme.
