Dr. Baiju Gopal is a Professor at the School of Psychological Sciences, CHRIST (Deemed to be University). He has 22 years of teaching and research experience in psychology. Dr. Gopal completed his Ph.D. from the University of Calicut, focusing on the concept of madness and its management in Kerala. His areas of interest include qualitative research, cultural psychology, and psychoanalysis. He conducts regular training on qualitative data analysis using NVivo. Dr. Gopal was Project Director of the US-Indo Knowledge Initiative Award, a partnership between Miami University and Christ University. He has presented lectures at the University of Toronto and Miami University. His keynote at a 2017 conference in Canada focused on South Asian healing traditions. Dr. Gopal?s research projects include a UGC-sponsored project on indigenous healing practices for mental illness in Karnataka. Dr. Gopal directed two documentaries, Spells, Possession, and Madness (2019) and The Gods from the Inferno (2022), which received awards at prestigious film festivals. He is also a trained playback theatre actor and part of The Actors Collective, having performed in over 100 shows, including TEDx performances in Bangalore.
