On 30 January 2026, Professor Zakaria Siddiqui of Jamia Millia Islamia delivered a lecture titled 'Emerging Demographic Challenges: Relevance of Social Policy for Sustained Economic Growth' that demonstrated how changing demographics, such as an ageing population, a young bulge, and migration, affect the country's economic landscape. He highlighted the policy implications of developing a social policy that could tap into demographic dividends while mitigating their challenges, and correlated demographic transitions with processes of long-term growth and equitable distribution. Inclusive structures which promote equity, stability and resilience were identified as crucial in view of India's evolving demography.
